I have been running windows ME for a long time and I
decided to install windows 95...
However, I have installed Windows 95 and my computer will
not load windows, as it says ''This Version of Windows
requires MSDOS 8.0''...
Can anyone help me get past this message? Please reply as
soon as possible because I would like to use my computer...
If I have to Format my computer, can anyone tell me how I
do it?
If there are any other way's to get past the message can
you please tell me what they are and how I can do them...
Thanks...

be sure to turn off virus protection in the bios
then boot with your win95 floppy
(you can get one from www.bootdisk.com )
and issue the command sys C:
btw: if your machine is a fast cpu
such as above an AMD-300 or a P-IV
win95 will not run unless you apply the fast cpu patch
that can be difficult or impossible to apply

I tryed bootdisk.com but when I inserted the disk into my
computer it said 'cannot run under MSDOS'

www.Bootdisk.COM will provide you with a utility that can be used to create
a bootdisk. The utility must be run from within Windows. It can be run on
any machine that is running Windows. The disk created by the utility can
then be used as a boot disk.

I have tried a bootdisk from bootdisk.com and it loaded
up...
However when I typed in 'SYS C:' it said 'invalid dive
specification'
What should I do now?!?

The message indicates that the hard disk is not partitioned or the hard disk
drive is not working correctly.
The message should not appear if the disk was previously working properly
with Windows ME. Is there anything that might suggest the disk is not
working properly or has somehow lost its partitioning?

Hi,
I found out what was wrong...
The boot disk was the wrong type...
I have managed to get windows me on now instead of windows
95. But when I try to load up Windows it comes up with a
different message. It says:
'While initializing device IOS:
ERROR: An I/O subsystem driver failed to load.
Either a file in the .\iosubsys subdirectory is corrupt,
or the system is low on memory'
What does this message mean, and is there a way to get
past it?
Thanks...

ME questions should be asked in a ME newsgroup.
How much RAM is available?

Error Messages Occur When Using Msconfig.exe to Limit Memory Usage
