My Norton Anti-Virus tells me C:\windows\winlogon.exe is
infected with a Trojan Horse and I should delete the file
and replace it.

I have found Symantec's very detailed removal
instructions, but how do I go about replacing winlogon.exe
with an uninfected copy of the file?

Sorry - I'm running Windows 98, not 95!

You don't replace it.
It came with the virus.
Try reading here:

Please supply the Symantec url that you found.

I followed Symantec's instructions at
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/
trojan.horse.html to delete and did not replace the file.
So far everything appears to working fine without it.
