Hi,

I tried to install some software which should install on
Windows 95 but I get the message "Windows 4.01 required".
I've already upgraded my system with sp1.  What else do I
need to upgrade to 4.01?

Thanks,
Danny

4.0 (win 95) and 4.1 (win 98) are usually regarded as DOS versions, not
Windows.  If your program is consulting the DOS version then using Setver
(SETVER /?) should be enough to fool it.

could it be talking about your browser version?

IE 5.5sp1 is last one that will work on win95

Well, he did say 4.01 and not 4.1, but then he said Windows and not Internet
Explorer, so it's an each-way bet.

There is no Windows 4 or 4.01.  There was however a Windows Internet
Explorer version 4.01
What I expect is it want you to Update Internet Explorer.   But with Windows
95, IE 5.5 is as high as you can go.
Try this site for older copies of IE   http://snipurl.com/4uaj
