Is there any way to update a WIN 95 FAT system to a FAT32
on the fly without losing any data, or do I have to
reformat from scratch? (It is the latest version of 95, so
supports FAT32)

There are several disk utility programs that will convert FAT
(actually FAT16) to FAT32.   The best known is Partition Magic
(www.powerquest.com).  Another one is BootIt Next Generation
(BootItNG) from www.bootitng.com which is shareware with a free trial
period.

Good luck

There should be a shortcut in the System Tools folder of the Start Menu,
Programs that will convert a drive for you

Not in Windows 95 there isn't.  The FAT32 conversion utility did not
come out until Windows 98.
