Windows 95 defrag loop

While running a defrag on a windows 95 IBM Thinkpad i get
stuck in a loop going from 72% back to 65%. This keeps
looping what can be done?

Have you tried running Defragmenter while Windows is in Safe Mode?

Tony,

Try running a Standard Scandisk first, and don't let the OS automatically fix any errors, just report them to you. Turn off all scheduled items, and turn off the Screen Saver, and then try it again.
