Is it possible to upgrade from Win95 to Win98 without
reformatting your p.c??
(so I dont lose any of my current apps as some of the
app install disks have been misplaced)

W98 CDs that will do what you want are often available on Ebay or perhaps
through the on-line computer software stores. Look for the full retail or
upgrade retail CD - both will do an upgrade. Avoid the OEM CD as it designed
to install to a clean hard disk drive and probably can't be used for an
upgrade.
