Scandisk could not write to the c:\scandisk.log...Is this a fried hard drive? A 16 bit FAT partition can only contain about 500 files and subdirectories in the root directory and often much less when long file names are used. If this applies to the computer in question, try moving or deleting some files or subdirectories from the root directory.
