Are you using a dial-up connection?
Try setting Primary Network Log-on to Windows Logon, unless you are on a network.
Under Properties for Client for Microsoft Networks, select the radio button for Quick Log-on, unless you are on a Network.
Performance gains with dial-up relate more to the hidden settings, such as MaxMTU.

I contacted MSN about my settings and they said my current configuration
would give best performance since I connect to their MSN network as my ISP.
Thanks for your reply. I guess I should have called MSN first but
appreciate your response about me being "on a network".
Not familiar with the hidden settings for MaxMTU you reference. Did set an
initialization string of AT&F for my USR V.90 modem and dialed new access
telephone number to MSN that seems to improve performance.
Still learning.
Thanks again, Frank
