usb not working

i am trying to hook up printer via usb port, however, port
not working/not recognizing anything thru it, what do i do?

I assume you 're using Win95, since this is a Win95 group. In that
case, there's nothing you can do. Win95b (OEM SR2) had rudimentary USB
capabilities, but few modern USB peripherals will work with it. You're
going to have to use a different operating system to get your USB
ports and peripherals working properly.

I recommend that you look for a Win98SE CD to upgrade your system.
Either a full retail disk or an upgrade disk will do. Avoid OEM disks,
since they will not upgrade an existing system. And don't buy the
"Update" CD. It's very cheap, but will work only to upgrade a Win98
system to Win98SE.

And make sure to upgrade to Win98 Second Edition (SE). Win98SE has
considerably more complete and bug-free USB support than original
Win98. Many USB peripherals specify Win98SE as a minimum requirement.

I had a same problem a few months back and I just plugged my printer in the USB port while it was restarting the computer and it got detected. Try it ! May work.
