I want to transfer auto-complete forms information from
one machine (win 95 and IE 5.5 ) to another in win 2000
and IE 6.0. I used regedit to export
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW
from old one to new one. But it failed. On new machine old
auto-complete forms information don't show up. Any reason
and
how to fix it? Thanks.

Search for ACL extension files.  Try copying those.

Copying to where? I search on the win 2000 and only files
with acl extension are in the microsoft office directory.

To the same directory on the Win 2K machine
that you find them in on the Win 95 machine.

Why search on the Win 2K machine?  The information
that you need to copy is on the Win 95 machine.

The .acl file extension is used by MS Office for AutoCorrect List files, and MS Access Control List files.
AFAIK they are not used by AutoComplete......I presume you mean AutoComplete in Internet Explorer.

In what way did the import of the Registry key fail?
What happened when you tried to import the key you exported from the other machine?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\IntelliForms\SPW

The workaround in this article may provide clues as to where the info is stored on Win 2000:
The Copy To profile feature does NOT copy Internet Explorer AutoComplete data:
