Hello:
I would like to completely reformat a hard drive on a Dell
Pentium3 running win 95.
I only have a win95 UPGRADE CD.

Any suggestions on how to wipe the drive clean and
complete a reinstall of Win95?

TIA,

Bill

Given that you only have an upgrade CD-ROM, I advise you not to do it.

You can get the same result by reinstalling Windows into an empty
folder. The following articles explain how to install Windows into a
new folder:

How to Reinstall Windows 95 to a New Folder [142096]
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/142/0/96.asp

How to Install Windows 98 to a New Folder [193902]
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/193/9/02.asp

However, before reinstalling Windows 98, you should first try running
the System File Checker. Go to Start/Run and enter “sfc”.

Information about reinstalling is also on www.windowsreinstall.com.

Use the instructions at
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/142/0/96.asp to install
into a new directory or get a Windows 95 full install on ebay.

After the new install you'll have some updating to do to bring it up to
speed. You can check out the page at
http://on-disk.com/product_info.php/products_id/33/ for info on what you
will want to update. If you don't want to locate the downloads for these
and download them yourself the cd is only $4. I found the time it saved
was well worth the price of a burger and fries at McDonalds :)

I agree with Starbuck your upgrade will ask
you for a prior version of windows to validate
it's instalation and if you format there will
be nothing left to look at.
