starting 95

my friends computer has 95, when he starts it it will
shut down then he restarts it asnd it will go into safe
mode. I dont have the discs for 95 but would like to
repair this one if possible if not then i would like to
put 98 on but not sure as to how to format drive
can anyone help

Do that, yes - http://cquirke.mvps.org/9x/startup.htm covers the
startup process, so you can see where it's going wrong.

Waste of time unless you've excluded hardware problems first - which
are a likely possibility with PCs of this age (fans, HDs, PSUs, RAM,
dust effects, flat CMOS batteries, etc.)
