I have gotten myself & the computer into a big mess and
I'm afraid that I am not going to be able to fix the
computer. To give alittle background of what I have done
to mess things up so horribly, I have a older second
computer a Compaq that had Windows 95 on it. My daughter
wanted it and I told her I would clean it up and give it
to her. By cleaning it up, I meant that I would delete
anything that didn't need to be on it to free up space.
I guess I went on a deleting frenzy and now I have to
error messages. The first is; 30 301 keyboard error. The
keyboard is not responding to anything except shift, alt,
delete. But it is not taking me to where it should be.
I briefly see the Compaq logo and then the 2nd error
message appears; NTLDR is missing press any key to
restart. Of course nothing is happening when I press any
key, because of the keyboard not responding. Have I
completely destroyed this computer or does someone know a
way I can fix it? I would greatly appreciate all and any
help! Thanks, Melissa Arnold

you first need to get the keyboard working...
try another one

I have put 2 different keyboards on it and still getting
the same error message on it. You don't happen to know
what it means do you? "30 301 keyboard Error" I've
looked here and with Microsoft to find out what it means
but it doesn't show up any where. Thanks, M.

It is a POST error.
It means there is an error with the keyboard, or with the keyboard controller on the motherboard.
If you have tried another keyboard and get the same error, and the keyboard does not respond, you likely have a faulty controller on the motherboard. Not good news.......

At this point you would be best served by reinstalling Windows.
Most Compaq computers made after 1996 came with a Restore disk
that automatically formated the drive and restored everything
to the original factory state. Do you have one ?

I don't have one, I've gone through everything and I can
only find the disc's for my new computer, which has
Windows XP on it. Any ideas? And Thank you for the help!!
