So anyway, the other day my genious brother force-shutdown my gateway 200
with windows 95. when i attempted to turn it on afterwards, it wouldnt.
Instead, first, the screen is black, and nothing happens (the computere just
sits there, with a blank screen), upon hitting ctrl-alt-delete the pc
restarts, bringing me to the 95 startup menu, which asks whether i want to
start up in normal mode, safe mode, logged mode, step by step confirmation
mode, comand prompt only, etc; with a warning at the bottom saying "womdpws
did not finish loading on the previous attempt.). when i chose normal, the pc
returns to the black screen, but when i choose safe mode, it will start, just
in an effectivly useless form. while searching through the control panel for
a source of error, i entered my preformance tab of system properties. in the
white box it says "

conmpatability mode paging reduces overall system performance.
Drive A: using MS-DOS compatibility mode file system.
Drive C: using MS-DOS compatibility mode file system."

what is up and how do i fix it?
thanks,
chris c
