fatal exception on startup of windows 98

when i load windows 98, i get the splash screen the an
error message that states there was a fatal exception
error 0d at 0209f:0001cf86

See if this applies to your situation....disregard the different memory address:
Error Message: This Program Has Caused a Fatal Exception 0D at 00457:000040B1 and Will Be Terminated:

If you have McAfee anti-virus products installed, also try the resolutions listed here, from Safe Mode:

"Fatal Exception 0E Has Occurred" Error Message Appears While Browsing:
