Since installing a USB BusDrive and upgrading earthlink
(Total Access 2003), my D & E drives are reversed.  What
was formerly my CD-RW save drive, E, is now D.  What was
formerly D for software instllation, is now E.  Drive
ident for BusDrive correctly shows as "G".  How do I get
back to the original setup?

What is software installation--a hard drive, DVD, etc???

If it is a CDRom/DVD player, go to control panel, system, device manager, double click CDRoms.  Click on the first device, settings tab and change the letter to R:    Click on the second device and change it to whatever drive letter you want.  Reboot.  Go back and change the drive R: to whatever you want and reboot.  Personally, I have my CDRom set at R: and my CDRW set as W.
