I hope someone can help me --- here is the situation.

I have two drives on my computer - a C: drive (27gb)
where I had Windows and my program files and a D: drive
(100gb) where I had my picture files.

I formatted my C: drive (not my d: drive) and reinstalled
Windows on my C:.  When I did the install, Scan Disk kept
telling me there were Directory errors on the D: and
asking me if I should fix it.  So I did.  When Windows
reinstalled, I went to me D: and couldnt find my
pictures.

The director changed from:
D:\Pictures\'files.jpeg'
TO:
D:\\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\
Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pict
ures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures
\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures\Pictures............

When I try to click down and down... finally it
says 'Can't Access this Folder' 'Path is Too Long' The
think the files are STILL on the drive since I didnt
reformat it.  ANY IDEA HOW I CAN FIND THESE FILES?

YIKES!  HELP! Its Four years worth of pictures of family
and friends (I know I should have backed them up to a CD
Rom Drive)

Thanks,

Mike

You might be able to shorten the path by using the ASSIGN command.
I've never tried it, though.  Good luck.

Thanks for the Reply .. what is the Assign command?  Not
familar with it.  Do I select the folder and do a 'right
click'?

No, you'll do it from an MS-DOS window.  When I Googled it,
I discovered that apparently the SUBST command is preferred.
Perhaps you're already familiar with that one.  There's some
information here:
