You didn't say if you were successful in formatting the disks on other
machines. If not then I would suspect the disks. Over time they (the
disks) sometimes become unusable.
Magnetic objects will also affect them... scrambles the data and makes them
unusable...your speakers, the telephone...the security uprights you pass
through in libraies, airports and storeswill do this in a "Mississippi
Minute" because that thin film inside the diskette is made of magnetic
media,too.
