Floppy drive periodically spins

The floppy drive on our system has started periodically
spinning for no reason.  It tries to access it for about
30 seconds, and then stops.  It happens every 20 minutes
or so.  THis happended on another of our computers about a
year ago, and I remember that to fix it we did a search
for all the files that ended in a particular suffix,
because the problem was caused by a program that
periodically tried to access the floppy for data.  We then
went through each entry on the look up list, and deleted
the ones that access the floppy when they were clicked
on.  I can't remember the suffix to search for.  Does this
ring a bell with anyone?

Open the registry editor and do a find on:  A:\     but before deleting the
entry, export the key so you can restore the registry should problems occur.
Most likely a reference will be in an MRU key.  Be sure to use F3 to
continue the search as there could be multiple entries.  Here are articles
