To successfully Defrag you need a certain amount of free space! It could be you have a large file in one or more fragments. How large is your hard disk and how much free space? In Windows Explorer right click on your C drive and select Properties.
You may need to enable "Show Hidden and System files" to get a true figure.

What does hidden files have to do with the
properties a C. Either the space is free or
used and if it is a hidden file it is used space.

The person checking the amount of free space will not get the right information if they are hidden.

It is not necessary to view hidden or system files in order for free space
to be correctly shown in the properties view of a disk drive. You might be
thinking of some other reported free space.
