I bought this computer a year ago and upgraded from 95 to
98 and had stuff from my old computer transferred over. I
was told that after I paid for the 98 upgrade all of the
files I needed would be on my hard drive however backup
wasn't installed. I tried to install it by going to
settings clicking windows setup and checking backup and
then ok as instructed; but the message then says install
disk; but I don't have a disk. Now what do I do? I
really need to back up--suggestions, instructions would be
appreciated.

Do a find on: win98_24.cab and if found, note the location. Then
when a file is needed, point the system to that location. If you have a
burner, you had better make a copy of those files since if you have a hard
drive problem, your W98 files may be gone.

By the way, you had better copy down your product key as well:
Open regedit.exe to this key and look in the right pane for the entry
ProductKey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
