OK...a friend gave me a Maxtor HDD from a computer that I
think was running Windows2000.  For some reason, my system
BIOS recognizes the hard drive on startup, but once
Windows98SE is loaded, the drive does not appear in File
Explorer or My Computer...Win98SE refuses to recognize it.

I'm unsure of the drive's size; my friend thought it was a
40Gig.  However, it only has 12,000+ cylingers, and plus
my BIOS presents it as a 6+ Gig HDD (that may be a little
off, too, because the BIOS doesn't seem to be picking up
the right number of cylinders).  I'd appreciate any help!
THANKS!

Did you use FDISK (or some other tool) to remove the NTFS partition from the
drive and create a FAT32 partition?  Until you do, Windows 98 will never see
the drive.
