Bottom line here. CD-Rom and Burner are recognized in bios
and under Device Manager. Nothing is "X'd" or 'yellow/red'
in Device Manager. Power to each as I can load and eject.
Deleted all drives and HD controllers in manager and
registry, five controllers were showing in registry.
Windows detected everything on reboot but still no CD's
in "My Computer", Hdd's are OK. Any thought? It's
driving me nuts.
Make sure the jumpers are set correct. You may want to try to rearrange the
CD-ROM and burner. Sometimes (on some motherboards) they don't seem to like
each other.
Try using the burner on same cable with one harddrive and the CDROM on the
other cable.

1. Do you have Tweak UI installed? If so, go to My Computer tab and put
marks in all drives.
2. Check for a lastdrive statement in the config.sys file and if it exists,
make sure it reads: lastdrive=z
3. Run regedit.exe and open it to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
In the right pane, look for a last drive statement and make sure it reads
"Z"
4. Control panel, system, performance tab: is there any comment about
MSDos compatibility mode?

Cripes, forgot about Tweak-UI, thanks. I'll try that, and
nothing is showing Ms-Dos Mode. Device Manager is clean
and figured nothing should be running comppability mode.
Don't use/run config.sys or autoexec.bat, I let the O.S.
handle it with a few suggestions in System.ini.
Thanks Again, Rick
