save e mail messages to disc backup  w/windows 98

Microsoft has purposefully and repeatedly omitted any reasonable means of
converting saved emails to any other but it's own undocumented format.
Probably the best thing you can do is save the "dbx" files they're saved as
and then choose another email client to use instead as it doesn't appear
they have any inclination to do other than attempt to keep you locked into
using their product only.

Whata do you get if you select an e-mail and click File | Save AS ?

open the message
then go to :   file.... save as

once you save it...you can then burn it to cd

look for a software program DBXtract, reads OE .dbx files and extracts data,
even when the .dbx is corrupt
