I keep getting error messages that my hard drive is full, but when I go to
My Computer in WIN98SE and click on C drive properties it tells me I have
3.6 GB free. Any Ideas on fixing this. It has done this several different
times. I have deleted files several times and after I do this it will work
ok for a while then start again sometimes it will go until I have 1 or 2 gb
then tell me it is full.
Is it the Virtual Memory that is causing this or do I need to run defrag?
or change some setting?
Thanks for any input.

You are not alone. I have the exact same problem. I
posted this yesterday. (Please See Gupta My 6, 5:24 pm)
When did it start to happen with you? My problem started
about 5 days ago.
If I get a response from someone, I will let you know.

first...delete temp files and temp internet files
also clear internet history
then run scan disk and finally defrag
if you still have problems...post back

Is something happening to make your swap file grow dramatically in size?
A corrupted file a do this. Can you link the messages to any particular programme you run?
How large is your hard disk? In Windows Explorer right click on your C drive and select Properties. Is your hard disk partitioned? How much ram memory?
You might try monitoring memory and swap file in use. I suggest you run System Monitor. Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Monitor. Select Edit, Add Item, click on Kernel ( Category ) and select Memory Manager ( Category ) select items Swap file in use and Unused physical memory. Select View, Line Charts and View, Tool Bar and Status Bar. Create a log starting before you expect the problem and leave it running minimised and then look at it later. If you are generating significant Swap file in use figures ( not Swap file size ) it is indicative that additional RAM memory may help.
If System Monitor is not there when you go to set it up select Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add / Remove Programs, Windows Setup. Scroll down window and click on System Tools and browse down and click on System Monitor. Click on OK and exit. Have your Windows CD handy as you may be asked to insert the disk.

Hope this helps.
