I installed a 30 gig external usb drive to backup a 18 gig
internal drive.  Microsoft Backup will only let me backup
to Type "File" and to a ".qic" file.  Problem is that
after 4 gigs, it asks for new media.  My guess is that QIC
files can't be more than 4 gigs, but it still doesn't
explain why I can't just backup, file for file, to the
external drive. I'm not using compression so it shouldn't
be a prob... let me know what you think .. thanks!

No file, QIC or otherwise, can be larger than 4Gb with the FAT32 file
system.

Why use Backup, and why use QIC?  Just drag and drop whatever files/folders
you want to backup from one drive to another.

I agree with Jeff.  If you don't use the MS W98 backup program, it
cannot fail you when you need it most.
