Hi. When I click the A Drive icon in "My Computer" (with a
disk in the drive), it "thinks" about it for a moment
(with crunching and whirring sounds), then asks me if I
want to format the disk - I don't, I just want to access
it.
When I click "no", it stops and won't open the new window.
This has been going on for a few days now.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

The heads may be out of alignment and if so, the drive will have to be
replaced.  When you put the disk in, push on the left corner of it and then
see if it will read.  If not, try pushing on the right corner.  Try each
corner several times if necessary and if it reads, the drive is shot.

Thanks for your help. I'm pretty sure now that the drive
is dead. Funny though, I've only had this computer for a
little less than a year.
Anyway, thanks again!
