Erasing Info from hard drive

Using windows 98 on computer. Computer is partially
working and I want to erase whatever I can from the hard
drive (windows explorer not working). How do I do this.

Hi Mary Lou,

If you want to delete everything on the drive, boot with a Windows
Startup disk. At the A:\ prompt type  Format C:  then press enter.
Warning: everything on the C:\ partition will be lost.
