Say Ben; I've tried this out, but, there is nothing in my
regedit that says anything about IDE's.Am I missing
something?Do I need to reinstall Windows?
Start regedit, expand the following key and look in the
right
window for "NOIDE". If you find it, delete it, then
reboot.

Start the computer in Safe mode and see if the drives are listed in
"Device Manager". If they are, remove them. Check the other
categories for duplicate devices, then restart normally and reinstall
the drives, using "Add New Hardware", if necessary. You may be
prompted for the software that came with the drives.
