I tried to reinstall w98 to no success. Someone told me I
had to partition the harddrive first. How do I do that?

if you already had win98 installed
and did not delete your partition by running fdisk
you already have a partition...so it will not be necessary to partition
it again...

if there is no data on the drive you need to keep
and you know you have all the drivers for your hardware
you may do a clean install  by merely formatting your drive first

>should not have to partition the hard drive for w98
