I have an essay to write for college with the following title
"Recovering Deleted Files from MS Windows
File Systems Microsoft Windows OS can use either FAT or NTFS to record
data on a hard drive.
Create a technical report detailing the mechanisms employed by each of
these systems to record disk information. (Both data and meta data).
Explain how someone with knowledge of how these files systems work can
recover deleted information from a hard disk drive."
I'm struggling to find a simple description of the process that FAT and
NTFS use to write and read a file. There's loads on the technical make
up of FAT and the NTFS directory etc. but little on the actual process
in a step by step walk through type of way.
Any help/pointers to online files etc. gratefully appreciated.

Sorry, but Usenet is not really the place to go for help with homework. One
of
the purposes of school goes beyond just learning information...one of the
purposes of school is to actually teach you how to think and gather data.
Sorry for the lecture here...but you can find all the info you wish by doing
a google search or getting a few good books out of the library. fat32 and
NTFS
have been around for quite some time...so you need not even need the most up
to date literature to find that info.
