messed up real good. cannot get past an "a" prompt even
using boot disk, says I am missing a partition, have a
virus. Have W98 and need only to format and reinstall,
don't need to save anything. cannot set up, format, boot
up or re install W98. help.

After you get the A: prompt, what are the steps you are going through, and
what are the problems you are running into that prevent you from
partitioning, formatting and re-installing?

What I would do is this:

FDisk the hard drive select option 3 delete primary
partition then option 1 create a primary partition
After it is created then go aheah and format the drive
like this Format c:/s

this will make drive c bootable
then you are going to have to reload all the drivers
then install win 98 and this should work
