file recovery

Can and if so how do you recover files from win98 after
upgrading to XP?

The upgrade to WinXP does not normally delete your files. You will need to
explain why you think that you need to recover them.

if you upgraded *without* formatting the drive,
any data saved in various folders should still be there.

OTOH: if you formatted the drive you have essentially no chance of
recovering the data
