I can't boot up Windows 98. When I used the boot disk and
run scandisk, it says that my FAT files are corrupted and
the error were not fixed. What can I do from here.
You should copy off any files that you can get access to. As long as you do
not try to write anything to the disk then you should be able to access a
large part of the contents, or possibly all of it. The easiest way to do
this is to temporarily install it in another machine with plenty of disk
space, and copy the lot, but you can also copy to floppy if you prefer.
Then get some disk drive diagnostics from the www site of the drive
manufacturer and use them to determine whether the drive can be recovered by
reformatting and reinstalling.

Hello,
Possibilty: Scandisk may be unable to make repairs because sectors in the
FAT are 'bad'. Many times (and many people did) you can recover data by
buying a new disk, and use DiskPatch to transfer the contents of the bad
disk to the new disk. You can use the DiskPatch demo to scan the surface and
see if read-errors are the problem.
Chances for success of course depend upon how many sectors are bad.
Once the disk is cloned, back up all you need and can, after that run
scandisk, it will now be able to correct the errors.
Good luck!

That procedure will not be of any help for a corrupted FAT
