I want to know how to remove file information.
After i delete a file and run an undelete program it replaces the first file
name with a $ but i want to be able to remove the WHOLE file in the FAT
file(Without Formatting)

If you can help Thank You.

Thank you.

Just one thing, can i delete the records of files that are already deleted?
I was using 'Track Ereaser Pro' to wipe the free space but that did not
delete the file name. It does wipe the file beyond recovery but when i use
'R-Undelete' i see the file name and when i recover its just blank but i
want the file name gone.
I'm in the middle of moving and formatting and i don't fancy reinstalling
winXP.

Thank you again.

I think you might have to restore all the files you can   ...
then use the shredder...

when you are done, you can always try your undelete utility to see how it
worked

The data you are trying to remove (the file name) is not in the FAT - it's
in the directory.  You are looking for a directory compacting utility. This
removes unused directory entries. If you can't find one, a workaround is to
copy the files to a new folder, delete the original folder, and rename the
new folder.
