Hi, I have a problem. I try to use Fdisk to create a
primary DOS partition so I can install Windows 98. It goes
through two things (0%-100%) then says I must restart my
computer for it to work. I've tried to restart. I've
turned it off and left it for half an hour, even. But
whenever it boots up again, my hard drive (Quantum
Fireball EX, 8455 mb) is STILL not partitioned. Therefore
I can't format it. What's going on and how do I fix it?
Can you send a reply to actgrant@yahoo.com if you get a
chance? Thanks a lot!

You need to boot from a windows 98 bootdisk, then use the fdisk from
the diskette. You can create the bootdisk (startup diskette) from a
friend's win98se computer-- start, control panel, add/remove programs,
startup disk.
After fdisk, reboot again from the diskette. Then do format c: /s
command.
Make a directory c:\win98. And copy all the files from d:\win98 to it,
assuming d: is the cdrom drive. (copy d:\win98\*.* c:\win98). Run the
setup.exe from c:\win98.
