VxD VFAT Errors

I just purchased the Pacific Digital 8X DVD R/RW drive.
After installing it, I now get the following error every
time I turn on the computer.  The computer is useless
unless it's in Safe Mode.  The error is as follows:

"An exception 0E has occurred at 0028:C004D965 in VxD VFAT
(01) + 0000B8ED.  This was called from 0028.C1C29580 in
VxD voltrack (04) + 00000430.  It may be possible to
continue normally."

Needless to say, it never continues normally, and usually
just stays hung at the blue screen.  On the rare occasion,
it will go back to the desktop, but the mouse moves so
slow, making it impossible to do anything.  I'm using
Windows 98 on a Pentium 4 with an Intel 845 Chipset.  I've
updated the chipset and all of the drivers, but the result
is always the same.  I contacted Microsoft once before,
and I was sent a patch, which included the following
information:

------------------------------------------------------
CASE_ID_NUM: SRX040117602159
KB Article Number(s): 197004
Language: English
Platform: i386
Location: (http://hotfixv4.microsoft.com/Windows%
2098/sp1/PKG81900/2001/free/7104_ENU_i386_zip.exe)
Password: 0_T]&X^I(0
Password Changes On: 12/25/2003
Next Password: y_y)J!fh
----------------------------------------------------

I don't know if this patch would have worked or not
because the password didn't work.  I tried it several
times.  I contacted Pacific Digital and they couldn't help
me as they said it was a Microsoft problem and "they" are
aware of it.  What can be done to fix this problem so that
I can use my computer once again, especially with my DVD
burner for video preservation?  Thanks in advance for your
help.

You should contact your supplier again and get a more precise description of
the problem that MS is aware of and some details of where the problem is
documented (eg, a knowledgebase article reference number)

seems your motherboard needs the bios updated

sometimes you can format drive and install a cleam w-98se
and all new up dated drives will help also

simple problem..remove the drive from pc boot up in safe
mode..uninstall all programs you install with new drive

if you know how to set up bios do this then under one of
the  bios menu will be where you can make it a plug &
play system or laet the bios run it see if it says system
if so change to bios the hit save and let pc boot normal

once you done this go to defrag and see if it will defrag
drive so files be in rite clusters on hd....once you do
reboot pc and run it a few times
