Windows 98 2nd. Edition - There is a folder in the
Windows Directory and also in the System Director that has
no name, just a control character. The folder is empty,
and has not information assosicated with it. Don't know
where it came from, and can't delete, move or rename it.
When Norton Anti-Virus runs it locks up the computer, so
this prompted me to look over the files to see why, and I
came accross this.
I have tried deleting in DOS, and have run Norton Disk
Doctor, and Scandisk. No luck removing these directories.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Skip,
Several apps have been known to leave a "folder" in My Computer after
uninstalling.
It is a NameSpace item. Go to REGEDIT.EXE and the CLSID of the icon will be
under the key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\mycom
puter\
NameSpace\
The folder should be in this area and be obvious.
Delete the item when you are sure.
It is a good idea to export the \NameSpace\ key to a temp.reg file first to
be safe.
