I know I am behind the times but, I would like to upgrade
my computer to 98SE. I have the disk but, it would not
install. Can I safely uninstall 98 and then install 98SE?
Thanks for any assistance.

I assume you have an OEM disk, which will not (willingly) upgrade an
existing system. You  may be able to get around this restriction, look
here: http://home.satx.rr.com/badour/html/upgrade.html

If you are thinking of upgrading TO Win98 I assume it is FROM Win95.  First
ask yourself why you need (as opposed to would like) to upgrade.  Given that
this may be from Win95 there may be an obvious answer but upgrading can be a
stressful operation.  You have to make sure you have a copy of ALL your
files and CDs for ALL you software (including peripheral drivers) before
even thinking about starting or risk loosing them for ever.

Microsoft has now withdrawn support and there is a waning of interest and
support generally for Win98.  I would, therefore, suggest that you bite the
bullet and if you are convinced that you need to upgrade you go to Win XP.
Yes this costs more than Win98 but I think that, in your situation, the long
term gain outweighs the short term gain.
