Win98Se stops at verifying DMI Pool Data on startup

I kept getting  " No Valid Fat on Boot Disk "
I tried to reinstall and got this{{ Warning SU0168 you got
a OS and to upgrade but not with this version of
setup.Please obtain the Win 98 Upgrade.
Win98SE OEM .
I did the E:\Copy *.* WIN98 and put on my Cab's first on a
new maxtor 30 HD then did the setup but (((((MS-Dos))))
was kinda hinky all the time;then it couldnt find  win 386
shell files so i  added WinMe Cab files BUT COULDN'T do
setup ( wouldn't read D; and E: drive;) and then renamed
the win98 to winold. ( no system OS anymore My object was
to not FDISK&format to save files\and put on my WinME. )
I did a check of memory and switched them around found a
bad stick; now down to 256MB.
I can boot up but none of the commands work to get to the
A: prompt, it now haults on the second screen "verifying
dmi pool data" anyone got any idea's ????

to fix your win98 installtion try booting with your win98 floppy
then issue the command  sys C:

WINDOWS WIN98 it to WINOLD
Guess what my (((battery)))) went dead 2 days before all of
this happened.
I replaced it today; now all the commands to prompt to
A:\ came back

ctrl+alt+F8
ctrl
Tapping F8
I am just going to (O) everything and Fdisk
