when the computer boots up it asks me for a bootable
disk.  I put the disk in and it says remove the disk to
restart and then it asks me for the bootable disk again.
is my boot disk broke?  Why wont my computer come up?  I
want to upgrade windows 98 to Windows XP.  Please let me
know how i do that after i get it to come up. I bought
the Windows XP Home Edition.  Thank you anyone who can
help me.  My 10 year old daughter really thanks you.  It
is her computer.

What exactly is the message you get when the computer starts, and what
exactly is the disk that you are inserting?

XP install CDs must be booted from, not a floppy diskette.

If you are unable to boot from CD, there is a KB article on how to make a
set of bootable CDs for XP installation.  Go to an XP newsgroup for this
information.
