Anyone know the maximum number of files and/or
subdirectories that can be placed in a Windows 98
directory?

65k directory entries for all folders in the FAT32 file system. For FAT16
there is a smaller limit on the root folder and an absolute limit of 65k for
the whole partition. Each file or folder takes at least one directory entry.
Long file names take up more than one directory entry so the actual maximum
number of files in a folder might be less than this.
