I have a Sony PCV-240.  Since I loaded went from Win 95 to
Win98 to Win2000, and back to Win98 I have not been able
to read files  previously saved on all, but one of my Zip
Diskettes.  I need to recover the data on my previously
saved Zip Files.  Iomega wants to charge me a fee for
attempted to recover the files.  Is there a software
application that can recover files from different media
forms that convert FAT 16 to FAT 32?

Also, I noticed that my Hard Drive Controller or the Pri
and Sec IDE slots (e.g. Bio Setup Mode and in Device
Manager) intermittenly pick up or properly assigned my
devices (Zip Drive, CDROM, and even the hard drive. Sony
suspected HD, CDROM, and ZipDrive Failure.  Is this due
from going from the FAT 16 to FAT 32? How do I resolve
this?  I checked the lithium battery and it is good, but
thought that the CMOS might be fluctuating due to a weak
battery?

There is no association between the HD FAT16 to FAT32 transition and your
problem reading the Zip diskettes.  More likely, its the minor difference in
FAT used on the Zip with 98 and Win2K.
IDE device detection problems during the bios routine will be reflected in
windows.  Most likely, the zip drive is the culprit.
