Yes I'm having some problems with file recovery. Well I'm running
Windows 98 SE & Mandrake Linux 8.1 on my Compaq Presario. Anyways
from Linux I moved a folder about 4.3 gigs from my Windows to Linux
then back to Windows. Now once I rebooted back into Windows the files
weren't there but C: properties showed used disk space as if the files
were there. I used Restoration 2.(something) it showed all my files I
was missing, but when I tried to copy them to a different drive it's
an a format like this
ýg[›DÈ}‡›JóÃ`n2–v
Can anyone help if possible?
Thanks in advance.

win98 (fat32) does not support files over 4 gigs
if you want to use "windows" for files over 4 gigs , you will need to use
NTFS...
therefore win2k or XP
note: Linux does not necessarily support NTFS but you can use something
called
captiveNTFS
http://www.jankratochvil.net/project/captive/
once you get rid of your win98 and go with an NT based OS using NTFS

Thanks for your help, but what I was wondering is if I can recover my
files that where lost. When I try they come out with a format like
this
ý g[› D È } ‡ ›JóÃ`n2 –v
Is there a way I can fix this. I used Restoration 2.15.4 or something
like that to recover my files but the format is as stated above.
Thanks again
