I'm so unlucky, If there's such thing as re-incarnation
I'll come back as myself. PLEEEEEEEEASE somebody help.
I thought I had the answer to deleting items in error.
Go to command prompt in start-up, get to scanreg/restore,
go to previous start-up settings, problem solved.
WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG.
What I have now is :
Start-up message, "Error loading EGCOMSERVICE_1046.dll.".
Try to access WORD, "A required .DLL file,WWINTL32.DLL,
was not found".
Thats OK, because I can reinstall Windows. Wrong again.
Put in CD Rom, message reads "H is not accessible".
Next step is Maintenance Wizard, cannot defragment or
scandisk drive C because there are programes running !.
Right, Shut down and try again. SH*T, it will not sh*t
down.
Press Ctrl Alt Delete. Whoooooeee, 22 Programmes running.I
have not got a clue what they are, but I suspect they are
the reason my computer is running so slowly and the reason
I deleted files in the first place.
I live in a beautiful part of Ireland, it's on the west
coast, it's gorgeous Connemara. I look out my windows
(thats the glass type) at the Athlantic, fields with
sheep, cows, ducks, Connemara ponies, I could go on and on.
It's so quiet and peaceful that the SOUND of strange cars
is a distraction. It really is a stress free environment,
except for my F**KING COMPUTER, JEEEZUS give me patience.
So if you are a computer whizzkid that can help, this is
for you
((((((((((((((((((((((((MASSIVE HUG))))))))))))))))))))))))
If you are not a computer whizzkid and cannot help, what
the hell, the hug is for you too. Sure we all need a hug
now and then. ESPECIALLY IF YOU OWN A BLOODY COMPUTER.
Nice talking/typing to you,
Doc

Unfortunately, you haven't described what you are trying to do, so it's a
little hard to offer advice.
The machine seems to be running OK except for WORD. If you need to get WORD
working then the simplest solution is probably to re-install WORD.
Alternatively, you could do Start / Run / SFC and select to restore one file
(WWINTL32.DLL) - restore it to C:\Windows\System
If you want to re-install Windows then you need to get the CD drive working.
Does it work with other CDs? If you create a new bootdisk by downloading a
utility from www.bootdisk.com, does the startup procedure see the CD drive
and can you access it from DOS?
If you want to get rid of the error message at startup then you need to
identify what application is trying to use EGCOMSERVICE_1046. Start with a
thorough virus scan using up-to-date data files, and also scan for other
problem with Adaware or Spybot (or both).
If you post a list of the applications that are running in the background
someone can advise what you probably don't need and how to remove it.
If you need to create more hard disk drive space then use the tools /
internet options menu option in Internet Explorer to delete temporary files,
and clear out the TEMP folder, for a start. Move documents and other files
you aren't currently using to off-line storage such as CD/R.
