When I put my HP Pavilion 4553Z on Standby, it often hangs
up when I come out of Standby. The error message is:

EXPLORER caused a general protection fault in module

This has been happening for several months now. I
continually download critical updates and this problem
started after one of them, but I can't remember which.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I have noticed
that if I close Messenger and wait about 30 seconds before
I push the Standby button, this problem usually does not
occur.

Thanks for your consideration.

This question is more suited to a general discussion group for your
operating system, because the question is not internet related; but on first
examination I would suggest that your BIOS does not fully support standby.
