I was told my tcp/ip stack was broken

Hello,
  I was told by many customer support experts that my
tcp/ip stack was broken.  I am using windows 98 second
edition and i have a compaq presario 500.  If you need
more information on my computer, please respond to me.  I
need instructions on how to rebuild my tcp/ip stack.
