I cannot connect to the internet from a win98 machine. I
downloaded a program named speed blaster on Friday or
Saturday. The program claimed to optimize my connection
with the internet. It asked what kind of connection I
had, I chose cable modem, it had me restart my computer.
The internet has not worked since. I have removed the
program, but it still wont work. I know the blaster
virus affects xp, 2000 & NT. Does it affect 98? Did I
get some version of the worm?

The new Blaster virus cannot infect Win9x or WinMe.

Search your computer for a hidden file called HOSTS. Rename to HOSTS.OLD.
Restart IE and test.
