I have used the same outlook express program for 5 years.  
A couple of days ago it started asking me for a user
password when switching identity.  I did not have a pass
work for this.  Is it stored on my computer?  I am not
able to get my mail.

There is no need for a password sniffer or anything like that.  OE's
password protection of identities is no security at all.

Simply import the Identity's messages using the "from an OE store directory"
option. You will find instructions here:
