I am sending this question via another computer because my home computer (OS
Windows 98SE) will not allow me to enter the Windows Update Website, nor the
Newsgroups Website.  I can successfully surf the internet except for these
two websites.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

No one else has answered so I'm going to ask a question. Have you checked
your hosts file for malicious activity?

Sorry about the delayed response, but was gone for an extended weekend...

I have WinPatrol installed and it warns me of any changes to my host file.
Any such warnings I receive regarding changes to my host file I simply click
"No".  Is there something I should be checking for?

Thank you for your reply.

Exactly what happens when you try?  Precise error codes will help with
diagnosis.

I receive this message...IE caused an invalid page fault in module
MSHTML.DLL at 017f:637596cb.

Does that help?

Thank you for your response.

I tried everything on the list that is related to my OS and IE version.  I
still get the same message with a slight change...IE cause an invalid page
fault in module MSHTML.DLL at (and here is the change) 017F:70e83c92.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your time

Sandi:

Nevermind....I was able to download IE 6 SP1 on another computer, then email
it to the problem computer.  I installed it from the desktop and was able to
update the necessary MSHTML.DLL version.  In any case I am now able to access
both updates and newsgroups which I am doing now from what was the problem
computer.

Thank you for your time and input.
